Lee Munsick Duo-Art Sold
By Lee Munsick

Hi everyone. Eagle-eyed Bill Wineburgh spotted the fraudulent eBay
listing supposedly from China, which was simply copied from the listing
for my Steinway Duo-Art XR which ran on eBay some months back. My
piano, my photos, my description, etc. eBay has been alerted to this.
I hope the guy is prosecuted and jailed.

The piano has actually been sold -- legitimately, as far as we know --
to a collector in Texas. Thanks to everyone who inquired and expressed
interest, suggestions, and help. I really do appreciate it.

I will now commence selling thousands of rolls of all types from 58-
and 65-note to Solo Apollo, including 88s, Duo-Art, Ampico, Welte,
organ, pin-ends, test rolls, etc. This will go on for months, probably
years.

There are a few very special Duo-Art rolls that I loved to play, and
some that I was able to have autographed by the artists such as
Guiomar Novaes who wrote, "To Lee Munsick - who unearthed a treasure!"
after I showed a couple of her rolls to her at a concert many years
back. She looked puzzled at first, and then her eyes lit up and she
exclaimed, "Oh! Aeolian!" Charming lady.

I would like to get recordings made from these few favorites. Can
anyone suggest someone to whom I could send the rolls and have them
studio recorded professionally on a good piano onto CD, so I can
keep the sound of my favorites? And of course, one such favorite is
Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, the two-roll version. I tried for years
to locate a copy of the British single-roll version, but never did.

Do you agree with my feeling that it ran much too fast when played at
the designated speed? I guess Gershwin just played it much faster than
his pal Oscar Levant, whose recordings were my first exposure to the
piece. That's one of the great abilities of digital performances --
I could slow it down to the pace I liked, without messing up tonality,
key, etc.

I will appreciate any suggestions and recommendations, and conversely,
warnings, if there are folk out there with whom I should not deal for this
purpose. Please contact me off-list at <damyankeeinva@earthlink.net>

Best wishes to all my old and new friends on MMD!
