Colloidal Graphite Lubricant
By Dana Johnson

Many American piano supply houses stock DAG 154 or an equal. This
is a colloidal semi-solid lubricant composed primarily of graphite
suspended in an alcohol with other additives to make a homogenous
liquid that doesn't separate. It is easily applied to raw wood with
a cloth pad, cotton swab or small brush. DAG can be thinned with
alcohol to any consistency.

I have found it works wonders on bridge caps, wind motors and most any
other similar application. Once applied and dry, burnish with a piece
of hard felt until smooth and shiny. It sticks well and doesn't seem
to migrate. Material dries fast, but I do not recommend it be used
over finished surfaces as it may dissolve the finish and become sticky
rather than slippery. I have not tried it on metal parts. Acheson
has a large web site for those you may be interested.
