"Ballet Mecanique" at Washington, D.C., Gallery
By Robbie Rhodes

Paul Lehrman writes about the extended performance of George Antheil's
Ballet mécanique at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.:

I haven't visited your site in a while, but saw this posting recently:

A description of the installation, as well as a video of the complete
performance (the piece was edited down to 10 minutes) is at
http://antheil.org/ . It was originally supposed to be on display for
17 days, but it proved so successful that the Gallery kept it going
for nine weeks. QRS Music, Inc., supplied 16 Gulbransen player grand
pianos, and the sound was incredible.
