Seek Tune List for 20" Mermod Freres Cylinder Box
By Ralph Schack

Like Dave Bowers who was seeking a tune list of Mermod 24-1/2-inch
musical box cylinders, I am trying to assemble a complete list of
20-inch Mermod Ideal Quatuor Soprano cylinders which I would like
to see published both in this digest and MBSI's Mechanical Music.

A list of cylinders numbered 1050 to 1065 appeared in a Heeren Bros.
catalog referred to by Bill Wineburgh in MMD 060727. An identical list
appeared in a Jacot catalog published in the same era. However, in
both of those catalogs the tunes on cylinder #1062 are not identified.
Does anyone know the names of those tunes?

Since Mermod would produce a custom arranged cylinder for $3 a tune,
several custom cylinders exist. For example, we have a cylinder,
numbered 129322, containing six Gilbert & Sullivan tunes and another
cylinder, numbered 129320, with unidentified tunes. We know of another
six digit custom cylinder so it appears that custom arranged cylinders
had six digit numbers. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has
other 20-inch Mermod custom made cylinders.

Finally, I am seeking cylinder #1054. I can trade my duplicate of
#1052 or #1053, both of which contain operatic airs.
