Note that it's not enough to just find a reed with the same frame
size, (even if it's stamped with the same note designation); it must
be tuned exactly to match your existing reeds.

If you're a do-it-yourself person, there's an excellent article by
Gary Stevenson in the MBSI Autumn 1988 issue.  He not only covers
normal renovation (tuning) procedures, but "total fabrication of
a new reed or its parts from brass stock".

Mark Kinsler asked _why_ a reed might break.  I've never given it much
thought, but it's not that uncommon and must surely happen without
abuse in some cases.  I suppose it's the same question as why a music
box tooth might be broken in an otherwise working box.  Does someone
know for sure?
