"What's It Called?"
By Ralph Schultz

Hello MMD, or whatever it is!

"Calliope?" "No, a band organ." "What's a band organ?"

How often do band organ owners hear this?

"Oh, yes, you're the one with that calliope," or, "Oh, sure,
that's kind of like one of those player piano sort of things."

I was playing in our local town 'Appreciation Days' and one guy
says to me, "Hey, nice carousel!" Yah -- where is the horse?!

Then you get the people that seem to know it all. While playing
at the circus parade in Milwaukee, I had my little steam engines
running just for show, and an old timer is trying to explain to his
grandkids: "The one on the left is playing the bass drum, the one
on the right is for the snare drum, and the one in the middle is
playing the organ!"

Well, recently, while playing a march on the organ in a local town
parade, I heard a teenager say, "Hey Dad, look! It's a polka playing
machine!"

So now you know the rest of the story. Just wondering if any of
you have other funny stories for a good laugh?

Thank you,
Ralph J Schultz
