Great Dorset Steam Fair & Thanks to MMD
By Mark Williamson

Greetings from sometimes sunny Britain! I'll shortly be heading out
for my third day at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Wow! I'll even say
it backwards: Wow!

My friend and mentor, Neil Davidge, was certainly correct when he
said that I would need (at least) two full days to see the fair and
that three days would be better still. I would urge anyone who has
never been to make the effort. As the Nike slogan says, "Just do it."
It was worth the 28 hour flight from Australia just to experience the
GDSF, besides all the other neat stuff I've seen so far in this part
of the world.

It's also been great to meet and chat with other mechanical music
enthusiasts, notably: John Smith (as in the John Smith Busker Organ),
Bob Essex (of MIDster punch fame), and also a lovely couple, Bernard
and Maureen Pilgrim. Transport between the fair and my accommodation
in Salisbury has been provided by James & Rita Warner of California,
who I met recently through the MMD, and today I should be meeting up
with Arno van der Heijden from The Netherlands, another contact made
through the MMD.

Mark Williamson - on location in the UK
(but I still call Australia home)
