PianoDisc Factory Fire
By Rob Goodale

PianoDisc suffered a devastating fire that, according to news sources,
completed gutted and destroyed the factory. The 6-alarm fire occurred
at about 1:06 a.m. last Wednesday, Sept. 27, and 120 firefighters
responded. The warehouse was filled with new pianos waiting to have
player systems installed, as well as pianos with installations ready to
ship.

Authorities are calling the fire very suspicious, and Federal
investigators are handling the case. The fire was reported to be
difficult to contain because the burning polyester finishes made it
exceptionally hot.

As a factory-certified installer I would estimate I have installed
about 250 of these systems. I had phoned the factory a few days ago
for a warranty repair, but my call was never returned, which is highly
unusual. I guess that mystery is solved. The PianoDisc website is
also down.
