Here's a topic for the piano technicians amongst us.

For some time now, I have been restoring a London-built Weber Duo-Art
grand.  The project unfortunately stalled a while ago as a result of some
difficulties encountered while re-bushing the keys.  Over the years, I
have re-bushed many keyboards with satisfactory results and without
problems; so I'm not lacking in experience.

For my Weber, I obtained the thinnest cloth available from my usual
supplier, 0.85mm (0.033") in thickness.  I then proceeded to re-bush the
key chases (buttons) by applying a little hot glue to each piece of cloth
and pressing firmly into place with a thin blade.  I don't use cauls to
compress the cloth as I would when installing front bushings, as they
simply wouldn't fit.  When I later installed the keys into the key frame,
I found that the new bushings were binding quite severely on the balance
rail pins.

So, what should I try next?  Perhaps it would be possible to obtain a
thinner cloth from somewhere other than my usual supply house and do the
job again.  Or should I first attempt to compress the cloth I've already
installed?
