Geneux Ami - Clock & Musical Box Maker
By Jean-Marc Lebout

I recently bought a small music box: 4 Scottish tunes, cylinder
6 inches, No. 5880, dated around 1850. On the right border of the
tune card is printed "E & A P f" for "Eugene and Ami Paillard fecit".
The two Paillard brothers founded this factory in 1848, until the
bankruptcy in 1861.

My question goes to another characteristic of this box: The letter "G"
is stamped on the comb. I did some searching and came to conclusion it
is possibly for Geneux Ami, a very mysterious person. He is mentioned
only in the Ord-Hume book "The musical box"; in a Dutch book "Muziek
uit stekels en gaatjes", and in vol. 16 page 137 of "The Music Box",
the bulletin of MBSGB.

In a clockmaker book I found, "Geneux A.G clockmaker in Geneva in
1874." Is he the same man? Has someone such a box, with perhaps
other characteristics, and knowing something more about Geneux?

Many thanks for this worldwide collaboration.
