Piano Roll Storage
By Kevin McElhone

I store _all_ of my rolls, whether for piano, organ, organette, etc.,
without rubber bands. Some have the 'ties' that wrap round a paper
fastener, in which case I use that. Most have nothing at all.
About 25% are stored on end in original Pianola sloping top spools
and an old blanket box, the others are horizontal on shelves.

As long as the vertically stored rolls are _always_ stored with the
right hand end _down_, it saves you tapping the roll towards the right
end on the floor or a wooden block before you play it.

I have had no trouble in 20+ years either.
