I have a quick question for general reference purposes, here.  A poster
has offered silicone rubber tubing for sale, and on reading this it
occurred to me that silicone rubber products have been on the market
for at least forty years, perhaps longer.  Can anyone tell me how well
they seem to age?  It occurs to me that all of the old bathtub cement
I've seen -- of course, the age is indeterminate -- has always seemed
pretty sturdy and rubbery, without hardening or cracking.

While I understand that traditional materials like wood, leather, and
hide glue withstand the test of time, the same cannot be said of most
rubber products.  If silicone rubber tubing can handle forty years,
the extra cost might be worthwhile.  And I wonder if there is silicone
rubber cloth.
