Nigel,  Kroil is _nothing_ like WD-40 (which is mostly kerosene).
Kroil indeed works wonders for freeing up stuck parts.  Much better
than "Liquid Wrench" as it penetrates better.  The "Aero-Kroil" (Kroil
in an aerosol can) is very handy but Kroil can also be purchased in
55 gallon drums if you prefer.
