USPS Media Mail
By Duaine Hechler

What is the big fuss about? Ignore it. The first few times trying
to mail piano rolls via Media Mail, I got from the clerks "What are
those," to "Well, I'll have to look it up," to "You can't mail those
because they are not 'Media' material," to "Well, I will have to open
the box and take a look at them," to "You can't mail them because they
are not specifically named in the regulation."

After all of that mess and many hours spent talking to the clerks,
I just mail everything -- yes, everything -- as Priority Mail. I state
that in the ads and set the shipping cost accordingly. So far I have
_never_ had any complaints. In fact, I've had just the opposite, I've
had only good comments, like "That was fast, I expected much longer."

Plus, I perceive Media Mail is a form of Bulk Mail (or junk mail) and
being handled as such. So in my book - Media Mail - never heard of it.

P.S. I did receive a couple of complaints from recipients of rolls
sent by media mail. The boxes got crushed (not from my packing) during
postal handling!

So treat your customers right and they will return (as customers).
