A question for anyone on this list: were there any articles about
the making of piano rolls published in the 'teens and '20s?  Something
that takes the reader through the whole process?

I can easily imagine QRS and Aeolian publishing such a thing for
publicity purposes.  Certainly, the acoustic recording companies did
so.  I know there are many people out there who know how the system
worked.  I'm just wondering if there was anything _from the time_ in
print -- maybe with photos of roll factories, etc.

I haven't scoured the newspapers and archives yet; I thought maybe
someone could help me shortcut that.

 [ rolls.  This article is reproduced in "Player Piano Treasury",
 [ by Harvey Roehl, Vestal Press (long out of print, I fear).
