Building and Tuning Trumpet Pipes
By Burl Updyke

I am starting to make the trumpet pipes for a MIDI-controlled version
of a Wurlitzer 104/105 band organ. I have metal working tools and
I plan to make the shallots and reeds following the dimensions used
by Wurlitzer.

It seems to me that if I could test and trim the wooden resonator
to the correct length by using the sound produced by a square wave
generator (I assume a reed pretty much produces a square wave), I could
then concentrate on tuning the reeds. Has someone tried this?

Regards,
