Barrel Organs by Nechada of Odessa
By Christofer Noering

Hello! Recently there was a posting on the MMD about the barrel organs
by Nechada of Odessa, as well as a link to a beautiful YouTube movie
featuring one of these strangely-looking and (for us who live "way out
west,") strangely-sounding organs.

In Arthur W.J.G. Ord-Hume's Book, "Barrel Organ," there are two
illustrations of organs by Nechada, one of them bearing the name
"Bedni Martin" or "Poor Martin," with decorative inlay on all four
sides. The back side, for example, is inlaid with pictures of two
veiled women serving bottles of wine -- Ukrainian wine, I presume!
