Rudolf Player Piano in Canberra
By Neil Stevenson

Thanks to MMD for a great response to my enquiry regarding my Rudolf
player piano. I have received offers of assistance and advice from
all over Australia and USA and even contacts from enthusiasts in my
home city, Canberra.

Jack Conway also posted some more information regarding the "Rudolph"
company. My piano is definitely branded "Rudolf" and the serial number
is 87986. (Were there two different manufacturers?) If as indicated
by the serial numbers some 450,000 pianos were made, then mine would
appear to originate somewhere around 1913 -- that is, if the serial
numbers bear any relation to the number of pianos produced. Somehow
I doubt that my Rudolf is as old as that.

I have also discovered that my piano uses a Standard player action
which is going to be very useful in the rebuilding process as a fellow
Canberran has kindly offered me information on its operation.
