My Favorite Mechanical Musical Instruments
By Justin Senneff

Dear Readers: Well, what is your favorite instrument manufacturer?
This also includes all kinds of mechanical music. If you want, state
why you like that particular company or person. Well, here is mine:

Band organ: Bruder (because of loudness), Ruth (same as Bruder and
I love the facades), Carl Frei (with the exception of French organs
that were converted), Wurlitzer (no particular reason).

Music box: Nicole Freres, Regina (such a sweet sound).

Coin piano orchestrion: Nelson-Wiggen (I love the xylophone register).

Street organ: Raffin (the Bourdon/Concert-flute register is
tear-jerking), Perlee (I love the sound and it is fun to crank out
at rallies), Bacigalupo (such a sweet sound, like a bird), early Bruder
(I love the little figures and the sound).

Orchestrion: Welte (it can replace an orchestra perfectly).

I have more for you when I think it over.

Justin Senneff
