Restoring Ampico A
By Tony Pignaloni

I just want to let the group know that I am restoring my Haines Ampico
with an A mechanism. I packed up the stack, tracker and play/rewind
pneumatic and the expression/crescendos, and drove 350 miles to my
friend's shop who let me do the work in his shop as well as lending
a hand and letting me use good material that sometimes is unavailable
to the hobbyist.

I have a long road ahead, as I rebuilt the stack down there, where
I had access to wood working machinery as I made mostly new bottom
board for the strikers, as they were recovered once before, and had
previous damage.

My friend recovered the tracker and play reroll pneumatics, and
recovered one of the expression devices for me. He also cut cloth
for me so I can recover the other expression, crescendos, main pump
reservoir and the two stack reservoirs. I'll have to buy some more
cloth from him for the governor, wind motor, and on/off pneumatic.
The pump is another separate project for a later time.

At a later date, as I save up some money, I will have my friend redo
all the valves. I am just recovering all the pneumatics for now.
