Covering the Pneumatic Hinge
By Tony Pignaloni

I was reading some old posts about the opinion of closing or not
closing the pneumatic when covering the hinge end. I needed to
re-glue a few hinge ends of leakers I found. The hinge end was glued
with Tacky glue.

Well, at home I don't have hundreds of spring clamps, but I got
a bag of rubber bands left over from my days of delivering newspapers.
Gosh, those are old! Anyhow, those rubber bands are thin and not too
strong, so instead of clamps to hold the pneumatics closed I used the
bands. The rubber bands had just enough tension that the boards
weren't clamped tightly shut -- just tight enough. No making impressions
in the cloth this way.

You know what? Those pneumatics are nice. The ones closed with the
spring clamps are a bit more stiffer than the ones I used the bands on.
Try it the next time.
