Historical American Engineering Record Collection
By John Bartlett

Hello All, In searching the MMD Archives I've not seen reference to
this wonderful resource of historical information I've recently found,
namely the "Historical American Engineering Record" collection from
the Library of Congress. Here is a link to their search page:

  http://lcweb2.loc.gov/pp/hhquery.html

There is not a lot of musical reference material that I can find, but
there is some. For example, by typing "Wurlitzer" into the search box,
I was able to find a reference to the Glen Echo Park Dentzel carousel
and building, which includes a number of interesting photos and some
fairly detailed engineering drawings of the entire complex.

And, by searching under the keyword "organ", I was able to find photos
of Zaharako's Ice Cream Parlor of Indiana, showing what appears to be
a Welte orchestrion.

I'm sure that there are a few other references to music in these
archives, and I hope it can become a tool for further research to the
members of this forum.
