Player Piano Market Value
By Eliyahu Shahar

If you're trying to get a profit out of selling a reproducing piano,
then you're in the wrong hobby. It seems that selling rolls on eBay
can make a bit of money but the pianos themselves go for very little,
and it costs a _lot_ to perform a restoration on them. If, however,
you want an instrument to play and enjoy -- for the nostalgia, for
the music, for the fun -- then it's far from a white elephant -- it's
a piece of art!

I don't care if it's worth the money that I have invested in it --
when I sit down to play it manually or place a roll in the spoolbox,
I get a thrill unknown to most. To me it's worth it. Does that
increase the value of the piano in today's market? No, the market is
low and probably won't recover in the near future. Enjoy your music
and keep it alive.
