Playing MIDI Files with Microsoft Windows
By Nigel Perry

I have just acquired a new computer with Windows Vista Home Basic
operating system. Consequently, I have a large number of MIDI
files, previously recorded in Windows XP, that will now not play
in Windows Media Player, Cakewalk, Vanbasco, etc. Some files play
the percussion track 10, but that is all. I have found that if
I mute all the tracks, and then un-mute them, on odd occasions
a file will play, although the instruments are changed.

I have surfed the net for help, and trawled through countless sites
which offer discussion or advice but, so far, the solution to the
problem remains elusive. Has anyone out there found the answer yet?

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and superb 2009
