Musical Box Movement for Child's Rocking Chair
By Walter Meyer

I have been searching the internet for parts for a pre-1950s
Reuge music box movement. I have even searched a good bit of the
MMD Archives.

This music box is either a 15- or 18-note movement that was in
a small dome case on the underside of a child's rocking chair and
it has not worked in years. I have taken out the Reuge movement
and oiled it and it seems to have an issue with the spring. Upon
inspection I found the spring to be broken.

Now my questions are (1) where can I find replacement parts for
this old Reuge music box movement, and (2) is it worth fixing or
is it better to just replace it?

Thanks,
Walter Meyer

[ New musical movements for a child's rocking chair haven't been
[ manufactured for several decades and cannot be found anywhere,
[ it seems, so you should attempt to repair the one you have.
