Vic,  Just a little detail about the wiring for the Ametek blower...
In this morning's MMD, Bob Essex mentioned the wiring for the blower:
"Black and white are connected to mains neutral and live respectively."
I suspect that it doesn't really matter in this particular situation,
but in the USA the coding is usually, "Black and white are connected
to mains 'live' and 'neutral' respectively).

I think it may be different in the UK, but in the USA the white lead
is always the neutral return.  That's not the same as the ground
(safety) connection, which is green.

In this blower I am pretty sure that the power leads are above ground
(earth) so you just connect the power to the two leads shown.  You will
have to interpret all this against whatever the standard is in Japan.
