Seek Wurlitzer Band Organ Drum Beater Spring
By Burl Updyke

I am in the process of adding a bass drum to my self-built Wurlitzer
Style 105 band organ. Not having the desired result when using a
solenoid, I am now going the traditional route and using a bellows to
activate the beater.

Can anyone can suggest a source of spring steel to use when fabricating
the bellows spring? Also, what is the thickness of the steel? Any ideas
concerning this phase of construction will be appreciated.

Regards,

[ You might use a door-spring (which is inexpensive and available at the
[ hardware store) until all the other problems are solved. Then you can
[ measure the force and make an equivalent using clock-spring steel.
[ Be sure to provide adequate valve port area, such as with multiple
[ valves in parallel. -- Robbie
