Columbia Roll "Colored Gentleman's Jazz Band"
By Matthew Caulfield

Tim Trager, musing over an interesting A-roll he found on eBay
entitled "Typical Of A Colored Gentleman's Jazz Band", raised the
question of whether any other jazz rolls explicitly acknowledged
their debt to colored folk.

Wurlitzer issued a number of "Blue rolls." They didn't seem to feel
that "blues" was the right term, and never used it. But I don't think
they issued any acknowledgely "Black" rolls.

Imagine if they had mixed the genres and issued a "Black and Blue roll"!
