Hi John, CP&C trademark is from Charles Paillard & Company, a maker
of fine small music box mechanisms in Sainte-Croix, Switzerland,
circa 1870-1895.  They were a dominant supplier of relatively small
mechanisms used by many of the box and novelty item makers across
Europe during that time.

Other notable Paillard family members in the Music Box industry in
Sainte-Croix from 1850 through the early 1900's include

- Vaucher, Fils Paillard (Trademark PVF);
- Amedee Paillard, who designed and patented the interchangeable
  cylinder music box; and
- Ernest Paillard, who, in conjunction with his brother-in-law Eugene
  Thorens (Thorens Music Box Company) devised a method of stamping
  out uniform gears and wheels which then facilitated the development
  of mass production of lower cost music box mechanisms.
