Reducing Turbine Suction Pump Noise
By Matthew Parvash

Would any one know the _best_ way to soundproof a player piano suction
box? I know there is soundproofing material but the only thing I see
is for a room or studio in large quantity. I have tried wrapping foam
padding and fiberglass around it but it doesn't help much. Thanks.

[ The best and most effective soundproofing method is to place the
[ vacuum pump, of whatever form, in an outbuilding such as an external
[ garage that's not connected to the building with the instrument.
[ Otherwise you should replace the noisy turbine unit with a quiet
[ slow-speed bellows pump, such as was originally installed in all
[ high quality electric player pianos. -- Robbie
