Player Piano Rewinds Too Fast
By Terry Leonard

I have a ca. 1926 Broadwood upright Ampico which I bought some years
ago from Mike Boyd, an excellent restorer of such instruments. When I
tore a fragile roll by a fast rewind, Mike altered the tubing in a
matter of a minute or so, and I can now control the rewind speed via
the speed control lever. At speed 90 it rewinds quite slowly and I
generally increase the speed to 120 or 130 which is fast enough but
much slower than before. I can also stop the rewind if I should notice
a small tear at some point. It is then easy to effect a repair.

I am sorry I cannot tell you how to retube your instrument. As you can
guess from my first posting on MMD, I am not technically minded. I
just enjoy the wonderful music this system has to offer, and I am lucky
to have an instrument which plays so well.
