Player Piano Rewinds Too Fast
By John A. Tuttle

According to Craig Brougher, the easiest way to reduce the speed of
rewind in the Ampico A is to remove the wooden rewind valve cover plate
and place a cardboard or leather punching between the cloth and plate.
Then screw the plate back on, forcing the fiber disk under the cloth
down some 0.030"-0.045". This reduces the travel of the rewind valve,
which reduces the speed of rewind. I have pictures of what the
governor looks like inside, so you can see where the punching needs to
be placed. See: http://www.player-care.com/reduce-rewind-speed.html

My initial ideas for solving the problem were much more complicated
than Craig's, but then he has a lot more experience than I do with the
Ampico system.
