Is QRS Recordo "Poet and Peasant" a Recut Roll?
By David Dewey

Hi all, I recently acquired a "QRS Recordo" roll (at least the box
end is labeled as such, and the leader imprint too) but the box is just
plain red, the roll ends are plain black, and the ring tab is plain
blue. It is an oversize roll, too.

The roll is M-64710, "Poet and Peasant" overture played by Mary Angell
and Roger Hilliard. I've yet to play it on my Recordo piano (it still
needs rebuilding) but am wondering if it's someone's recut, as usually
QRS has their name on the box covering, the roll ends and the ring tab.

I won't mind if it is a recut -- probably on better paper -- and that
probably means it's a good-sounding tune!

Thanks,
David Dewey
