Passing of Menno Jonker, Musical Box Collector
By Hendrik Strengers

For more than 30 years I have known Menno Jonker. He owned one of the
finest collections of early musical boxes in the Netherlands and he had
a flair to trace these instruments.

For example, at the auction in February, 2007, after the sudden death
of Jan ten Horn (Treasurer of the Netherlands Pianola Society), he
had bought one of his musical boxes "a Nicole Frères box nr. 46096 with
4 overtures (Don Giovanni, Der Freischütz, Somnambula, I Puritani)".
He was very happy to add this instrument to his exquisite collection.

It is very sad that he passed away -- totally unexpected -- on July 20
at the age of only 56 years. May he rest in peace.
