Herophon Pressure Bar
By Nicholas Simons

Jos Peperstraete asks if anyone has a spare pressure bar for his
Herophon organette ["Herophon Hold-down Arm" in 100810 MMDigest].

Firstly, the Herophon is a very rare organette and secondly, it
suffers from a dangerous design fault in that the pressure bar is
a loose part that can get lost when the organette is stored in the
attic for 100 years.

I suggest the only remedy is to make a new one, cast from a mould taken
from an existing one. To that end, Jos needs to find a Herophon owner
who is willing to help, although no Herophon owner is likely to let his
prized possession out of his sight! To help in a small way, I have
sent Robbie a few photos of the pressure bar of my Herophon. This is
very ornate and made from cast iron.

Good luck to Jos.
