Relative Quality of "Cheaper" Player Pianos
By Larry Mayo

Years ago, when my interest in reproducer pianos began, most sources
seemed to describe Steck, Stroud, and other cheaper models as being
of poorer quality.

Does anybody have anything to say about the quality of those "cheap"
pianos as compared to modern brands that are recognized as being of
high quality?

Larry Mayo

[ Most techs would say that older pianos are superior to newer
[ pianos of the same name. Quality should be judged by listening
[ to the piano, not by reading adverts and consumer buzz. Has
[ anybody participated in a "blindfolded" comparison? Naturally,
[ resale value is typically a big consideration... -- Editor
