Hupfeld Theater Organ
By Michael Roseboom

The Hupfeld Company of Leipzig is mainly known for their automatic
instruments such as the Helios orchestrions and the Phonoliszt-Violina.
However, Hupfeld also engaged in manufacturing theater organs with
rather unusual consoles. On page 455 of Bowers' "Encyclopedia",
lower right corner, is a photo of a Hupfeld theater organ console.

There is at least one Hupfeld theater organ in existence, to my
knowledge; it was owned by MBSI member Julie Johnson of the Chicago
area. I heard that it recently changed hands, so does anyone know
who currently owns it, and are there any others in existence? Also,
did any of these Hupfeld theater organs have roll players?
