In regard to the topic of posting offline answers to MMD questions,
also guilty as charged.  Often I find it much easier to craft a quick
response and deal with a person directly, rather than come up with a
response that I feel is publication-worthy for the MMD.

I am wondering why a Mechanical Music Digest Forum hasn't been
considered as an addition to the website.  This would be a great place
for people to chime in with quick responses, everything would be on
record, and user-created "usernames" could add anonymity for those
wishing to remain anonymous.  A forum facilitates more open discussion
and continuation of any dialog or ideas.  There are a few open-source
forum and board designs; the one that comes to mind is http://www.phpbb.com
