T.R.T. Caliola Rolls Played at Glen Echo Park
By T. J. Fisher

Matthew Caulfield generously sent to me a cassette of the organ
I take care of, the beautiful Wurlitzer 165 at Glen Echo Park, recorded
in the 1970s when it was neither particularly beautiful nor really a
165. The organ had been converted to play Caliola rolls years ago and
then the park management allowed it to go to pot.

In the 2002.12.27 MMDigest, Matthew and Carl Zwanzig listed several
Caliola rolls which the Glen Echo organ once played. I found two
others on the cassette Matthew sent me. They are:

Roll 6107
1) Bouquet Of Roses
2) Laroo Laroo Lillie Bolero
3) Say Something Sweet To Your Sweetheart
4) Buttons And Bows
5) Tarra Ta-Larra Ta-Lar
6) The Pussy Cat Song

Roll 6110
1) Music! Music! Music!
2) O Sole Mio
3) Enjoy Yourself
4) Whispering Hope
5) Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy
6) I've Got A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts

The recordings, incidentally, are truly horrendous. Very few visitors
realize that the instrument Durward Center nursed back to health in
1978 was once in such terrible shape. Fortunately, today it sounds
as wonderful as it ever has. I am away from the park until mid-August,
but I would enjoy seeing any MMD subscriber at the park and giving them
a tour of the organ room and so on.

Best to all,
TJ Fisher
