Musical Box Comparison, Regina vs. Mira
By Dale F. Rowe

Dear Mike, Greetings from The Bronx. On your inquiry about Regina
vs. Mira, both companies produced excellent products. Regina was an
offshoot of the German manufactured Polyphon, and was manufactured
in Rahway, New Jersey. The Mira was manufactured in Switzerland.

On a previous MMD post it was found that the dampers for a Mira are
indeed hard to find. Unless you are prepared for the expense of
replacing missing teeth on the comb, which would also mean replacing
the dampers for those teeth, you would most likely be better off going
with the Regina because parts are much easier to procure. As to the
price, it seems average for that instrument.

What is the disc size for that box? Is it a single or double comb box?
Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dale F. Rowe
