Passing of Richard Rigg
By Eliyahu Shahar

I'm deeply saddened by the loss of my friend, Richard Rigg.

I met Richard at my first AMICA meeting, then went out to dinner
with a bunch of people (including Richard) and finally invited to
his house to see his home-made art-case Ampico, pipe organ installed
in the living room and of course anyone who met him during that era
his wonderful piano-playing pooch Cashmere. (Cashmere had her own
PianoLodeon that she would gladly play for anyone that would listen.
I took an instant liking to her.)

Richard was an avid collector of player pianos, antique clocks and
music boxes, and was a renown restorer of them as well. His
collections were well known to many collectors.

Several years passed and I lost touch with him until I heard that he
was restoring clocks at the Solvang Antique Center. I visited there
many times before I knew this, and then of course after seeing him,
would visit each time I returned to the States to visit my parents.
About a year ago, I was informed that he had suffered a very serious
fall and was recovering at home. I didn't get to see him since then.
