Seek Musical Movement for Imperator 48 or 49
By Alexander Kies

I have for years owned the tall case of an Imperator No. 48 or
No. 49 musical box, from which the entire interior is missing.
I am looking for the complete movement with two combs and 12 bells.

I know that this device is very, very rare; can you maybe help, or
do you know someone who can help? A photograph of the case of this
Imperator is available.

Best regards,

[ The firm of F. A. Richter & Co., Rudolstadt, Germany, owned by
[ Friedrich Adolf Richter, operated in the 1980s and early 1900s.
[ Richter made disc music boxes of very high craftsmanship under
[ the "Imperator" brand name. Q. David Bowers' "Encyclopedia of
[ Automatic Musical Instruments" illustrates on p. 244 and 245
 [ a style 49 Imperator, which is a standing cabinet-type box, and
[ also a smaller counter-top box. The case of the box illustrated
[ matches the case in the photo of your Imperator. -- Matthew
