Piano Rolls Are Damaged During Rewind
By Bill Chapman

Roll damage can occur when the bearing wears out that supports the
shaft and chuck of the right flange of the roll. I have had two such
Ampico bearings wear out. The replacement wore and caused the rolls
to rewind erratically.

The bearing is hard to lubricate fully. The similar bearing in the
Duo-Art also wore out. All bearings had been lubricated, but
apparently not often enough.

Although you may need to slow down the rewind speed, do check for any
wobble in the upper right side of the spool box.
