Canberra Gebr. Bruder Elite Apollo Organ
By Matthew Caulfield

In the pictures file on my computer I have a TIFF image of an article
that appeared in Vol. 1, Issue 3 (May 1996), of the FOPS Australasian
News reporting on the efforts in Canberra of the ad-hoc Carousel Organ
Restoration Group to restore and make playable the only surviving Gebr.
Bruder Elite Apollo band organ in Australia. The 03.03.14 MMD Archives
have a posting by David Kerr about this project, with a link (now dead)
to his personal web site about it.

Being curious about the state of this restoration project ten years
later, today I Googled "Carousel Organ Restoration Group" and found on
Picasa a series of thirty-seven photographs which should fascinate any
band organ historian. Apparently the group is still alive and working
on the organ, which they seem to have playing now, although the condition
of the music books they have to play their Bruder is not good. This
sounds like the organ might be a candidate for non-invasive MIDIfication.

Does anybody know further particulars about this classic organ?
