I have one of the common Holtzer Cabot piano motors (QS 15 frame) that
I would like to disassemble, have the case bead blasted and repainted,
clean and degrease the stator coil and the rotor and replace the leads.
I would like to spray the windings after cleaning with insulating
paint.  My questions are

1. After removing the end bell with the starting switch and the rotor,
how do you remove the stator assembly on this particular motor?

2. What kind of evaporative solvent is available today to clean the
windings and rotor with?  In the past I once used Carbo-Chlor, as
recommended to me by an Inland Steel Company motor shop repairman,
but the government has decided that chemical is too dangerous for
people to use and is no longer available.

I have read the recent posts by Gordon Stelter and Lee Rothrock on
cleaning electric motors, but surely someone here has done what I want
to do and can offer more helpful advice?
