Wood Valve Buttons in Standard Double Valve Action
By S. Lee Walker

What it is all about is the wooden button: the wooden buttons on my
Standard double-valve player action are flat when in contact with the
pouch. The ones I have seen on various Internet pictures were flat

The illustrations in the Arthur Reblitz player piano repair book
(on pages 142, 108, 88) show the end of the wood button to be spherical
to the contact point pouch. That means the wood bottom with the flat
end and a spherical end make a contact with pouch on the center and the
other on the circumferences.

According to Arthur Reblitz (on page 142) the clearance is 1/8". Does
this adjustment apply for both? Are we getting the same clearance?
Does anybody know what configuration wood button came from the factory?
