Unknown Table Top Cabinet for Musical Movement
By Jim Duncan

I have a finely made small cabinet that I purchased on-line as
"a music box clock". I am a member of the NAWCC (clock collectors)
and have shown the piece on that forum, but without any success in
determining the likely original use of the cabinet.

I don't think it was made with a clock, and certainly not the one it
has now. There is a small music box built into it, but some aspects
indicate it might have been added along the way. The wooden cabinet
has a nicely constructed "sound box" built into the top along the
lines of a violin body. I can only conclude it was important to the
makers to enhance some sound making feature of the unit.

I'd like to describe the piece and show some photos of it to see if
anyone can identify what it was built as. I'll attach one photo but
I have several more to show the details of the piece.
