Nelson-Wiggen Style 7 Nickelodeon Photo
By Don Teach

There is a Nelson-Wiggen piano listed as a Style 7 on eBay, item number
261529449497. I do not believe this instrument is a Style 7. I have
included the only photograph I can find of a Style 7, from the first
edition of "Player Piano Treasury", by Harvey N. Roehl, page 118. You
can judge for yourself.

 [ Description by Harvey Roehl:
[ "The particular piano which the lady is inspecting is considered
[ by some authorities to be about the ultimate in the science of
[ cramming lots of musical doodads into practically no space!
[ "Originally located in Philadelphia, this piano was eventually
[ 'found' and added to the collection of the late Richard Shattuck of
[ Eldred, Pennsylvania. When the picture was taken it was on display
[ at the Musical Museum at Deansboro, New York; eventually it was
[ sold to and became part of the William Allen collection in Santa
 [ Ana, California.
[ "This machine contains the piano, a mandoline attachment, bass
[ drum, snare drum, cymbal, tympani effect, tambourine, castanets,
[ Indian block, xylophone, and triangle -- all in a space no larger
[ than an ordinary upright piano!"
