Market for Mechanical Musical Instruments
By Thomas Binnall

Market values are set by supply and demand. Presently, reproducing
piano values have dropped like a rock, while the cost for restoring
them is keeping pace with inflation. I personally know of seven
Steinway pianos that were gutted and had electronic player systems
installed. No one could pay me enough to do that; I'm disturbed by
those who gutted players back in the 1940s and '50s, too. We really
need to view ourselves not as owners but rather as custodians, bent
on preserving music machines for future generations

That being said, I've just acquired a Price and Teeple pedal/electric
player with the delightful 7-pneumatic rotary wind motor, and am
seeking Recordo rolls for it.
