Robert Heilbuth - Band Organ Builder
By Timothy Tikker

More on Robert Heilbuth.  His compositional style was not Viennese;
he was a native of Hamburg, Germany, and had little use for things
Austrian. He disliked Boesendorfer pianos [Vienna] and was always
loyal to Steinway [Hamburg], and he preferred composer Emil Waldteufel
to Johann Strauss Jr.

His compositional language was usually more intricate and imaginative
than most light music composers, with wide ranging chromaticism,
rhythmic variety, varied color and many touches of humor. He was
a true master of his craft.
